When I engage in emotional empathy, I listen for voice tone and I read body language. I absorb their negative emotion and reflect it back to them filtered through the positive love energy from my own heart. I lead them gently from feeling to feeling so they can be aware of their own higher power and feel that they are indeed powerful creatures who can take possession of their own thoughts and their own lives, so they can feel the joy of loving themselves.
The Art of Listening
I listen not to the words from the mind
but to what is spoken by the heart,
to what is spoken by the soul.
I hear things like a deep breath,
a sigh,
a quiver in the voice,
a tone of sadness,
a vibration of anxiety.
And I respond from my heart;
I respond from my soul.
I share my spiritual self.
I share the message of life:
“the passion of a stream
as it skips its way to the sea,
the sounds of the sea lions
barking joyously waiting
for the morning herring hunt,
the squeaky sound of the eagle
as she soars high in the heavens,
the babbles of the newborn babe
as she tries to speak to her mother.”
I share my joy of just being alive.
I share my love for life,
my love for me,
my love for you.
I really enjoyed reading this poem Lawrence. The simple direct lines with such positive imagery entwined in the message calmed my busy mind.
I had been thinking about a friend who is carrying around negative thoughts of past experiences. When I next listen I will visualize your words and share my heart energy.
Thank you.
Thank you. I believe there is beauty in simplicity as there is beauty in nature. It heals the mind and enlivens the soul.
