(From Neil’s latest book – Jigsaw)
The life of a divorced man
can be measured by yesterday’s coffee
no sense wasting
when it’s just a little skunky
No cream to add
last week’s went sour
won’t shop ’til Friday
when I pick up the kids
The single life
and a cup of yesterday’s coffee
spoon stands up
have a cigarette
no sugar to add
I take mine bitter.
I really enjoyed reading Neil Garvies’ poem “Divorced Man’s Breakfast”. You have captured the emotion in short lines and few words that definately say it all. Well done Neil.

Thank you for your comment on Neil’s Poem. It did capture my feelings exactly when I look back on the devastation caused by my divorce.
